Mario 64 DS on a 3DS

Can anyone tell me how well Mario 64 DS works with the 3DS slide pad?

I expect it's still 8-way movement but I'm just wondering how close the N64 experience it gets.

The game is still pretty expensive new so I'm a bit wary of taking a chance.

It is definately better using the 3DS slidepad in the sense that it is more comfortable and natural to use. It is obviously still digital though, so you're still restricted to 8 directional movement.

Cheers for that. I might hold off until I see it really cheap. I wonder what the chances are of a Virtual Console Mario 64 hitting the 3DS.

It's better on the 3DS but you'll still need to hold down a button to run. It's a much-improved experience, though.
