Problem with mother board please help

I have just bought a new PC and had it built but can't get it to work the problem is with the mother board it is an Asus A7V600. We enter the Serial ata RAID configuration utility in the bios, but nothing is selectable and it only lets you escape. we want to get to create array, nothing is highlighted or can be done at the screen. Any help greatfully appreciated or suggestion

    Thanks

    Julian

Does the HDD/s work before goin into the raid setup?

Sorry to ask a stupid question, but do you know what Raid is?

It's not a silly question cus i don't know what RAID is, i only have one hard drive as well. I don't know much about PC's my mates tried to fix it, bt could not cus they don't know what the problem is why it won't let me choose create array etc it only lets you escape

Well I know my motherboard has a jumper that needs to be activated to enable RAID, have a butchers in the instruction manual.

RAID. Redundant Array of Inexpensive Devices.

In order to have an Array, you need multiple discs, surely? Does the disk work without trying to set up RAID?

You must have 2 Hard discs to use RAID, that would be the problem. If that was the only problem then it seems to be fixed.

Asus website staff also said it needed two hard drive to do this but how else do you get it to reconise the hard drive? Tried also booting XP using a floopy for drivers to help it find the hard drive this produced an error.

Lets forget the RAID thing for now, you don't need it.

                  Is it a SATA HDD?

If so you need to install a SATA driver before installing windows for it to recognise the HDD.

Tried using a floppy to install drivers but an error comes up for line 172 d:TXTSETUP.OEM on the disk, don't know why do u think that the disk still thinks it running from the cd? Cus the files are copied from the mother board cd. People with similar problems say the TXTSETUP.OEM needs to be in the root of the floppy disk. If that means not in a folder n seperate from eveythin else thats what i did.

Thanks for all the help so far i have been tralling all over the net tryin to find out how to deal with this problem.

Thank you for your help but have managed to work out the problems with the motherboard and used a floppy disk to boot the Operating System.

Thank you for all your help
