Notice some retention, just wondering if it's okay to leave this on for 8hrs while I'm in work?

Yeah no problem.
If your getting retention, put it on a blank input while in the dark and check your panel for poor uniformity.
This was my screen....
Some of these VT30's are very, very odd.
Mine has just gone back after 6 months, the worst retention I have ever had on a panel, those blobs are retention, but just from watching normal TV, the longer it was on the brighter they got.
I have had over a dozen plasmas in the last 10 years and the VT30 can be great, but can be seriously flawed too. -
Gizze, seriously? That's a Plasma? Must be a very long exposure shot of one? It looks more like an LCD.Comment

That is pretty much what I saw on my VT30 in a dark room, I tried to get it as close to how I saw it.
This is the actual pic that came out of the camera....
The strange thing is, the area that still looks alright is the area that had the green blob!! You can't win!! hahaComment
