Will a US E-reader work with a pal GBA SP?

I want to pick one up when I go to New YOrk next week.

Yep, thats the setup I've got.

As I understand it, the e-readers will work with any region GameBoy, but the cards themselves are region-locked. eg. US cards will only work with a US e-reader.

I guess what you want is US Animal Crossing, US e-reader and US Animal crossing cards, with any region gba (assuming you're buying it for AC!).
