    MSX

Thinking about getting into the world of the MSX, can anyone tell me what model to go for for max compatibility with games. What games should be top of my list to play?

Metal gear 1&2 I suppose from a purists viewpoint although you're probably better off playing them on ps2 as part of the mgs3 subsistence package (they're probably included in the ps3 had collection too).

You probably want an MSX2+ wouldn't bother with the TurboR.

Most people tend to think the Panasonic FS-A1WX or the FS-A1WSX are the ones to go for.

            And Happy birthday

Agree with that, MSX2+ probably offers nearly the entirely library, don't think there is a lot specifically for TurboR.

If you fancy one, I have a good Yamaha MSX that does all kinds of music stuff too

The Maze of Galious would be a good choice for an early game to try. Basic graphics (made for the original MSX) but overall a better game than the Famicom version.
It's an adventure-platformer and had both European and Japanese releases on cart. It's not one of the expensive Konami MSX titles so don't overpay for it.

One like that, it's got loads of software including music carts, plus a piano keyboard, mouse and two floppy interfaces but no drives. I think it doubles up as a DX7 synth.

Another good game was the Namco version of Pacman, I had it on tape somewhere.
