I've seen this on ebay, does it not say in the description? The disc looks suspiciously like the browser disc....

They do NOT work with commercial games, and only work with the included Japanese webbrowser and development tools such as dc-tool and KallistiOS.

My DC BBA works with Quake 3 and worked with Outtrigger... Is there another model that doesn't work?

Yeah this isn't the same type i don't think. Its a prototype according to the description.

This is the original Sega prototypes of the broadband adaptor. When the genuine BBAs came to short supply some hong-kong import sites began to sell them as an alternative.

Not exactly a prototype, there are two ethernet adaptors for the Dreamcast.

There is the 'lan adaptor' (HIT-300) which doesn't work with any games.

and the 'broadband adaptor' (HIT-400) which does work with some online games. I have one of these.

They use different chipsets, the HIT-300 is 10 Mbit and the HIT-400 is 10/100 MBit (not that the speed difference would matter for games).

As I understand it the HIT-300 works with some older non-games software, like the DreamEye, DreamCall, and some versions of DreamPassport.

The only good use for the HIT-300 (apart from the bundled browser) is as part of a homebrew dev kit.
