where are all the games???? (am i the only co-op fan?)

Somebody help me.... I'm getting desperate!

I love co-op games... but I am going through a drought...actually I spend most of the time waiting for games, and then they are delayed... I wait some more... then they are quite average... (there are obvious exceptions to this!)

I have both and Xbox and a PS2... And no co-op games to play... I've finished them all... and I am bored of waiting for some more.

So, my question is, to fight off the drought/delays a bit, I would be willing to invest in some more hardware, if someone could recommend some co-op games on another format for me????

I asked in 'Another World' about a Gamecube... and they (most of the staff) couldn't name a GC exclusive game that is co-op... (if it isn't GC exclusive, I've already played it!) I know nothing about GC games, never mind co-op ones!

So I looked at the Dreamcast... (nice and cheap) and I saw a game called Toy Soldiers, that said it was co-op... but that's all I know about it!! Actually, I don't know anything about Dreamcast games...never mind the co-op ones!!!!

I also know nothing about the N64 and its co-op games....

So, my question: where are all the co-op games???? and what can you recommend on each of those formats???

    All suggestions welcome!

Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel should be out on XBox and PS2 soon, and while it shamelessly pees all over the official Fallout 'universe' I'm sure it'll be an enjoyable co-op game.

        hi,

i feel the same way cinabar. the lack of co-op games in today's games are abysmal. i would love to play online games but most of these games allows you to compete with others but not to cooperate on certain missions or quest. though some MMRPG does involve this aspect but they are not available on xbox or ps2.

as for some current games that involve co-op, watch out for monster hunter and biohazard: outbreak for the ps2. for the xbox, phantasy star online and true fantasy live online.

        cheers!

There are stacks of co-op games... you're just not looking very hard. Raindbow Six has mission based co-op, for example. Halo, Brute Force, Ghost Recon, Wolfenstein... probably more, but that's just off the top of my head.

Gamecube? Hmm, Rebel Strike has two-player co-op. Tube Sliders allows two-player championship. Mario KartD allows for co-op play too. Don't remember if Wave Race does or not... maybe I will check later. I guess in a peverse way, Zelda:WW has co-op too, if you have loads of rupees, a GBA, link-cable and someone willing...

Not sure about PS2 though... Metal Slug? MSX has co-op, that's on the PSOne. I guess any old shooter will do on any platform you fancy. Stuff like Psyvariar or Radiant Silvergun ( ) and then you could look into other platforms like the Saturn (AMOK anyone?) and DC (Powerstone springs to mind). Can't think of any on the N64 though; I have a feeling Beetle Adventure Racing might, but I can't find the cart...

          edit: PERFECT DARK!!

Rainbow 6 on xbox has no co-op mode? it has no split-screen options! (I want to play co-op with people in the same room, not via xbox live etc?)
Castle Wolfenstein doesn?t allow you to save during co-op mode. Sadly.

I also think you are underestimating just how many co-op games I?ve played on xbox and ps2!!! Ghost Recon 1 and 2, Conflict: Desert Storm1 and 2, Brute Force, Halo, Timesplitters 1 and 2, Strasky and Hutch, Time Crisis, Twisted Metal Black etc etc etc?. I have only ever played co-op games ? and believe me I?ve played them all? I know there is new stuff on the horizon ? but all I do now is wait for games? and it is so dull? hence wanting co-op games for new formats?
Fallout Brotherhood of Steel ? I on my list? but its another I?m WAITING for? ft:
Should have mentioned this earlier ? but I am not into racing games?
Surely someone has a list of co-op games for the dreamcast / N64 or gamecube???
Surely there are lots of co-op games waiting to be played?. Somewhere.

RE: Rainbow Six 3; I assumed you'd have system link matey You can set up co-op quick missions through that System link works well with Brute Force too!

I was thinking about some more N64 and Gamecube games... Timesplitters 2 is on the cube (Xbox and PS2) but you have that in your list Phantasy Star Online allows for co-op play on the 'cube (not sure about Xbox; I believe so... 'cube has more online stuff though so...)

I don't think there are many at all, to be honest. Edit: Thought of two more; Diddy Kong Racing (use a cheat, two player quest mode) and Jet Force Gemini.

Like I said above though, you could always pick up a Saturn and for some Virtua Cop goodness or maybe World's Scariest Police Chases on the PSOne, which also allows for co-op. Erm... Typing of the Dead (DC), maybe!? Wacky Races (DC, again)??

Sadly I don't have system link... on either my ps2 or xbox.

Very quickly - Kuri-Kuri Mix, Virtua Cop (on ps2) and World's Scariest Police Chases (PS1)I have played already! Really - I have played most co-op games on Xbox, PS2 and PS1!

Finaly Phantasy Star Online on Xbox - I haven't played - as it has the word Online in the title - and i am an offliner... is there an offline co-op mode????

And i have a huge release dates list of things coming out at some point... but to keep me going... I need something new... to patch up the huge gaps in my co-op gaming calander....

                    So far we have:

Gamecube - Wario Ware, Mario Kart DD, Rebel Strike, Tube Sliders, Zelda:WW (sort of), Diddy Kong Racing, Jet Force Gemini

Dreamcast - Powerstone, Typing of the Dead, Wacky Races

                    N64 - Beetle Adventure Racing

And I am not into racing games... and a lot of those sound like racing games!

I am not trying to be picky.... I just like games that seem to fall in a small niche of the sector.... but surely i'm not the only one??? Co-op gaming rules...! If only there was something to play.....

Not on the Xbox; you need to pay for the hunter's license. The Gamecube version does let you play offline co-op though...

Diddy Kong Racing, Jet Force Gemini
They're N64 games Don't forget Perfect Dark though, that is an FPS with co-op. Don't recall if Goldeneye allows co-op though; I don't think it does... JFG is a third-person platformer/shooter hybrid. The second player can take part once you have assembled the little droid fella.

                          Powerstone, Typing of the Dead
Powerstone should be Powerstone 2; that allows two-player (2vs2 fights; players on same team) in the main arcade bit (the first one, while the better game, only allows 1v1 fights). House of the Dead is a gun game; Typing = replace gun with keyboard, two-player touch typing madness

You mostly into FPS games though?? Halo should not be missed... but any sane co-op fan should have that already I'll have a look through some of my games tonight, see if I can't find some other recent co-op titles...

                            FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES FFS!!111111111one.

Awesome co-op mode, and the game is completely playable in Japanese (that's if you don't care about the plot...which as far as I can fathom isn't that detailed anyway, more like FF Tactics Advance, where a plot is superficial).

How's that for a gamecube exclusive?

I have yet to play it, but the tragically underlooked "Adventures of Cookie and Cream" for PS2 is supposed to be a great co-op shmup/other game.
