Hi guys,
I need the technical help of some of you once again!
I recently upgraded my PC, my motherboard is an Asus P4C800-E Deluxe. With this new board I can have upto 8 USB 2.0 ports connected. 4 are standard on the back of the board, the other 4 are as headers on the board itself - my new case has 4 ports on the front, so I figured have them all connected just for easy access.
The problem I'm having is that whilst on booting my machine the MB Bios detects the devices, Windows XP does not - well not all of them at least! It detects my mouse and keyboard no problems, but not anything else, no portable storage devices etc. The other thing is, it only detects the mouse and keyboard on boot - if I were to unplug one and them plug it back in again XP won't detect it again until I shut down and restart my machine!
I'm more than a little confused as to why it keeps doing this, and can't find any answers in either the manual or on the net.
One last bit of information, the MB cd comes with an USB 2.0 driver, but when I try to install it, it tells me that because I have XP service pack 1 installed I don't need this driver as the service pack has support in it?!
Any help would be most appreciated - I'm not sure if its just a software thing or there is a problem with my new hardware!
Cheers
Dave
