Wondered if any of you had a clue why my wireless speeds are so slow when I'm downloading something via steam etc, or anything that downloads large files.
My wireless can go as fast as 25MB/s to my network drive, so I know it isn't just hitting the limit of the transfer speed. Yet when I download something at the full speed of my internet (around 7.5-8MB/s) it literally slows to a crawl.
For example just there I was downloading Left 4 Dead 2 on Steam, 7.5MB/s, and I tried to play something off my NAS drive using VLC. It just hangs or downloads a very tiny amount of info.
Am I missing some inherent problem with wireless speeds or does that look like something is wrong?
Using a Retina MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion if that makes any difference (but I think it was doing the same sort of thing on Lion)...
