AN uncle of mine will be getting the Oz PAL version of AC. I have a US copy, will there be problems visiting each others towns?

I have a US Cube and when I tried to use my save games on my brothers PAL games the cube didn't recognise any save files.
It wasn't AC I was trying but don't think that it will make a difference to the outcome.
US saves can happely co-exist with PAL saves but you can't share the data between NTSC and PAL.
