    1&1 hosting + Wordpress

Hi - just uploaded Wordpress to 1&1 hosting. Had to do it all manually via FTP with Filezilla - seemed to work except now my address is showing a placeholder page saying "this domain has just been registered". 1&1 FAQ says I should delete "index.html" from the root directory (it's their placeholder). I've done that and it's still showing the "just been registered" message. I've done this via Filezilla - the only place I can actually find the files for my website! Surely there's some way to look at them via the 1&1 control panel? Any advice?

    Cheers!

Did you register the domain through 1&1? I would check the DNS entries and if not add the ip address to your site directly into your hosts file and see if that solves it!

That being said you have managed to FTP so it should not really be either of those.

There's a file manager in the 1&1 admin panel.

Assuming the index.html placeholder was there before you uploaded Wordpress, is it because it's probably still in your browser cache? Try clearing the cache or accessing the site from another machine.

Or try accessing the page directly by adding /index.php to the end of the address if you have one.

I deleted it from the root through FTP, worked fine! Also found the file manager in the 1&1 control panel. Thanks guys!
