Megadrive Game Cart Battery Backup Question

I have the game Dungeons and Dragons on the Megadrive and it has battery backup, the battery though is dead and I would like to fix this however is the battery a standard watch one or an on chip device?

Why not open the cart and find out. It will almost certainly be some variety of button cell.

Thx for the reply, I just had a look and I haven't got the right fitting for the screws, DOH. Damn japanese have to make it so we can't fix them

Some people take the insides of a biro out, heat the end up and then push it onto the screws, the melted plastic forms around the shape of the screw, run it under a tap to cool down, and then it might work!
