Strange Scart 'No Signal' Problem w/ Samsung LED HDTV & Dreamcast

OK, so following on from my previous problem I now have a Dreamcast scart cable but I am unable to get a signal with it.

When the scart cable is connected and the Dreamcast is turned on, the TV automatically switches to the 'EXT' (Scart) source (so it's definitely being detected) but then displays an error message:

'No Signal - Check connected device's power, cable connection, and source selection.'

Not sure what to do really, as it is detecting it but not showing an image or audio?

My TV is a Samsung LED 1080p HDTV UE22C4000PWXXU and this is what the back looks like:

Can you choose the input type? Set it to RGB if it's set to CVBS or anything else.

Also you're best off with a VGA box, really. Or a modded machine (VGA out).

It doesn't appear so, I can't see that option anywhere in the menu or source list.

Connect it to the set via VGA - rgb scart will look bad and horribly interlaced on an lcd,.

Have a play about with any settings in the Advance/ settings menu, especially any relating to RGB or A/V input. Try going through all the source inputs as RGB might be on a separate one. Also make sure the cables are seated properly.

Ignore what I said about the Playstation, that's working through the scart adapter.

I just tested the Dreamcast & Scart cable on an old CRT TV and it gets sound and a scrambled/moving picture. Seems to be the cable at fault. Any way to fix the cable?

              EDIT:

Just opened the scart housing and there's a loose brown wire that seems to be the culprit, just need to find out how to re-wire it now.

EDIT 2: I shoved the wire back into the slot and it was working for a while but it's too timid and now the signal is gone and can't seem to get it back so I just want to buy another cable.

The composite RCA cables are cheaper than the scart and I have a scart adaptor for one too, would there be any difference in picture quality to a scart cable?

Yes it would make a difference. RGB SCART is the the best SD connection type there is. Composite and usually S-Video are also supported by SCART cables/sockets but the PQ (Picture Quality) is just the same as if you were using an ordinary AV RCA/Phono or S-Video cable. The SCART adapter is just that, it doesn't change the PQ.

Don't quote me on this but if I remember correctly the DC is unusual in the fact it only supports RGB SCART via a specifically wired RGB SCART cable. This is why DC RGB SCART cables don't usually work on a non-RGB SCART socket or support S-Video either.

Best idea is to get a replacement RGB SCART unless you fancy the expense of a VGA adapter.

From the sound of it things haven't changed since I last bought a DC RGB SCART cable. I've had more faulty or poorly made unbranded ones than for any other console which is why I eventually sourced an official one instead.

I had another go at fixing it by wrapping the copper wire around one of the metal teeth, it seems a lot more secure now and is fully operational.

Going to "acquire" a **** ton of DC games now.
