Wii Component Cable

Is it worth having the official one or not??

I have an official one for my machine but my brother has just inherited my parents black Wii & it only comes with Compo****e connection, so I said I'd get him a Component cable for it & I was just curious if I should look for an official one or if a 3rd party one would do the job?

Also is it still possible to softmod the black machines?

It's an analog cable, so I should imagine official would be best. They're not really that expensive either so go for it.

And yes you can softmod the black machines, although iirc they can't read burned DVD-R for some reason.

I think I read somewhere that the drives in the Black & Red ones were replaced to stop them reading burned discs.

I only need it modded so I can lend him my Mario Galaxies & Madworld as I have a US machine.

Yeah I have a black one and it's modded, but as Speedy says they don't read DVDs (unlike old white ones which you could actually use as a DVD player if you wanted).

I have an official component cable if you are interested buddy, not sure of the going rate though...

I had an official one but now use an xbox/ps2/wii combination one and to my eyes it's just as good. No idea of the brand though so this post is of very little value, just like most of my others.

I don't think it will make a difference. 480p is not really hard to get from point A to point B.
