Profile on two 360's - problems?

Right, I have an aging Asian 360 that I wouldn't mind replacing but, seeing as how there are less Japanese-exclusives on the 360 these days, I'm thinking of keeping it for JPN stuff and buying a PAL 250GB for use as my main 360.

What I'm wondering is if there are any issues in having my main profile spread across the two consoles? A bit of research seems to indicate that it can be done, but are there any problems with downloading/playing games, unlocking achievements or anything else?

I had mine on 3 consoles at one point with no issues at all, apart from one. When I recovered my GT on one console, I had issues using it on the others, so copy onto a memory stick and move it over that way.

Yeah - best way is to have your profile(s!) on a memory / USB stick and shunt then between the consoles. I've had no troubles at all doing things this way for years.

Be aware though that anything you buy from Live is registered to the console it was purchased on. This means you can play that game/DLC on that console when you are offline but to play it on another console you must be signed into Live with the profile that bought it.

I do exactly the same thing, one PAL 360 and one JP 360 and move my profile between them on a stick.

Does the memory stick need to be empty or can it be filled with other stuff? Also, should I copy it first before signing into the new console?

Oh and what's the best way to do that license transfer thing? I know you can do it on xbox.com, but can you do it on the 360 as well?

I have one profile that is used across a PAL & an Asian 360. The PAL machine is my main gaming unit while the Asian machine is in a different room that is mostly used by the family for Netflix (and by me very late at night for shmups).

I see the posts above suggest using a USB stick to keep a profile on. Personally, I "recovered" the profile on the Asian machine so that it's always there. And I use the "cloud storage" and keep all of my save games on. This way, I'm always synced up whichever machine I'm using for games (i have a few favourite XBLA games stored on the Asian machine). I have never encountered any issues using this method.

Just out of curiosity, could the folks who say they the USB method give a reason as to why this seems to be the preferred way of doing things?
