Rock Band / Guitar Hero Guitar

I picked up a couple Guitars for dirt cheap in the charity shop. One is for Rock Band, the other for Guitar Hero. Thing is, I`m not sure which versions they are or if they are complete. Do the wireless ones need a wireless receiver? Any way to tell the differences between the guitars?

What system? On 360 they don't need any additional receiver.

The guitar Hero one is 360. The Rock Band one is PS3. I don`t actually have any of the games yet so thought I`d get a bit more info before I parted with the extra cash.

You need a receiver box for ps3, they are not sold separate, if the 360 one is not usb the same applies

You DO NOT need a receiver for a 360 wireless guitar hero or rock band controller. They work the same as a 360 pad, all you need is the controller and the batteries for it. However you do need to sync them to your console, and they can be incredibly awkward to do so sometimes.

No idea about on the PS3 but I always assumed they worked just like a PS3 controller. Could be wrong though as I have never used a ps3 one.

I did not know that I always assumed they were the same as the ps3 ones which most definately do need a receiver

              Cheers for the replies.

Turns out the 360 one works fine without an additional receiver and, unless somethings wrong and its just me its not working for, the PS3 seems to need a receiver.
