    NTSC Wii - RGB Scart?

I have my swanky Sony BVM Monitor arriving in a few days and would like to play some Wii on it...

but its going to need to be via SCART, but the US Wii can't do it as standard - but there is a work around isn't there?

    Thanks

IIRC the US Wii doesn't have the pin for RGB, having the S-Video pin (which the PAL Wii lacks for RGB).

Yep, US Wiis do not have RGB.

If there is a fix that works, then it's by installing the European system menu through homebrew. Don't know if this actually works, hopefully someone will give you a definitive answer.

cool, so can I use RCA to BNC to use component then?

        Thanks for the info guys!

Yes your monitor will accept Component as normally the RGB input doubles-up as the Component input. You then have to set the monitor to accept Component via a menu option or switch (turn off the External Sync also).

A standard Wii Component cable and Phono to BNC adapters will be fine, although you might be able to get away with using a PAL RGB SCART cable as it'll carry the Component signal to your Female SCART adapter (or switch box - depending on your setup).

Just remember to switch back to Analogue RGB and External Sync when using your RGB SCART consoles, otherwise you'll be left scratching your head as to why the picture's bottle green and rolling about all over the place.

Thanks for the confirmation of that. Figured as much playing with my PVM. Wasn't sure if it needed sync too though but I guess not.

Yes normally the Sync isn't required, I remember testing with the PS2 set to output Component over RGB SCART. Turning off the External Sync had no effect on the picture. As for the Wii Component output, I read (here) it's triggered by shorting out Pins 8 and 10 in the actual plug, so a PAL RGB SCART cable wouldn't be suitable for this purpose unfortunately.
