American PAL / NTSC TV question

    Hi,

If you buy a good TV from this Country it will play PAL and NTSC. Is it the same the other way around? If you buy a TV from the US will it be able to display PAL as well as NTSC?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

As far as I'm aware very few US TV's will support PAL 50.

Correct. Most if not all TVs in Europe start off NTSC and are then converted to PAL. They just don't remove the NTSC support. Hence for once we get the better end of the deal

So what would happen if you had a US/JAP DVD player and games machine that can also play European stuff? If I put a PAL DVD in the Panasonic Q for example would it display correctly on a US TV? Or would it be in black and white?

I don't think you'd get a picture or at least a stable one as the US TV would be unable to run at 50Hz.
