    New PC time questions!111111

Hello computer lovers, it's that time again where I have a few silly questions, if you could lend a hand then ta.

    1. If I have no plan in overclocking the CPU, is there any benefit in spending ?15 more on the i5 3750k than the 3750?

    2. As above, I was eyeballing the Corsair H60 watercooling kit, again is their any point without an overclock or would the stock cooler be perfectly fine, i'm more concerned about noise than anything else.

    3. RAM, benefits in faster/expensive ram, i.e. 2133mhz?

    Cheers.

    1. No, but you can OC late to increase lifespanr.
    2. Possibly save some noise, stock would be fine but noisy under load.
    3. Unless you're overclocking/setting it the RAM will run at 1600MHz by default I believe.

Cheers bro, no ive got no plans to mess around with overclocking ram so that's good to know, I may get a decent kit anyway as you never know down the line.

You can easily get an extra Ghz out the CPU if you get a K variant. You will need a decent cooler though so in the end it adds ?100 on. You pays yer money...
        Otherwise as speedy says.

Well the H60 is ?60 and the 3750k ?15 more, so ?75 on top aint toooo bad. I'm still giving myself the ****s over graphics, my heart is in a factory OC'd 670 (evga ftw signature II most likely), but my inner demon is nagging me to pimp for a 4GB card, even a 4GB 680 for the inevitable future if higher resolutions and more intensive titles.

I'd say get Noctua NH-D14 over the H60. Can cope with heat better and should be quieter too. I'd probably say get a 3570K as you'll be kicking yourself later on for having bought a 3570 I believe.

            I wouldn't bother with a 4GB card myself, get a 660Ti or 670.

I have an H60. I don't recommend them. I mean, this one is working like a dream right now - quiet, controls heat brilliantly. But, if it fails the first you'll know is your CPU overheating. You can't tell just by looking whether or not it's working. I had my first fail on me and due to the nature of them I had to send it back and have it tested before getting a replacement. Stick with air cooled and just put up with the noise.

Noctua are renowned for being one of the best in terms of noise. That cooler can cope with mammoth amounts of heat.

Holy crap! I'd be worried that D14 would snap the motherboard in half lol!

Yeah the Noctura has been on my radar but it's too ugly for me, and FSW has put me right off the water option heh, ill prob pimp for something decent other than the stock cooler.

Too ugly? It's a CPU cooler, you'll never see it. Could get a Freezer 7 Pro though, charlesr has one and seems to like it.

When they work they're ace and I guess I just got unlucky but at least with an air cooled one you can tell if it's working just by looking / listening but I'd been playing Dragon Age on mine for several days at over 90c before I noticed!

I have an old i5 750 and the Freezer 7 is whisper quiet unless I start video encoding (I don't play games). Even then it's still pretty quiet at 100% CPU - no jet engine stuff here. I don't like noise. It's in a quiet case. While web browsing and stuff, i.e. no load I can hear the quiet HDDs more than the fan. It doesn't take up much room either.

I've got 4 case fans in mine and they make more noise than anything else. I have a slight OCD about keeping it cool though. Could probably take 2 fans out really.
