[PS3] Far Cry 3 1080p?

Just started this on PS3. Quick question: the box says the game supports 1080p, however my monitor says the game is only outputting 720p. I think I have the correct display settings on the PS3 (set to automatic ATM). Does this game actually support 1080p?

If you told your PS3 that your display did not support 720p or 480p then the pS3 would likely output a 1080p signal but if the game is native 720p (it is) and you've told your PS3 that your TV supports 720p then that's what it'll output.

I assumed Pat meant the actual signal chucked out by the PS3 rather than the native internal res. No one expects current consoles to actually render 1080p on this type of game do they?

Nah, think everyone is resigned to the fact that current gen can't do it. To be honest I don't really know about the automatic setting on the PS3 - but I'd imagine auto would match the resolution that the game tells it to output? Otherwise forcing a res would mean upscaling..

OK I get it. Never had a PS3 game that supported 1080p before, so assumed it was a truthful specification. Rather used to the 360 which just upscales everything automatically.

More games are upscaled to 720p than aren't , that's the truth of the matter.

1080p is an even rarer beast

if the game is native 720p (it is) and you've told your PS3 that your TV supports 720p then that's what it'll output.

Try out RR7 or Wangan Midnight under this rule...
