Hey up all.. Has anyone got any experience of using HDMI over CAT5/6 extenders.. I quite fancy running hdmi from my xbox downstairs to a tv (that I don't have yet) in the bedroom. Any recommendations? I've seen a few knocking around the 50 quid mark on amazon etc..

I've only had experience of them at work, other contractors installing them. Suffice to say they use very high end ones that cost ?500 a pair.
I was looking into it a while back until I realised it was possible to run a 10m HDMI without any issue and it does everything I want. Which leads me to the next point. Keene are a retailer I'd definitely buy from again for this sort of stuff, their IR kit is awesome so I'd recommend looking at their site.
Their support is also very good, replied to my queries quickly. They also stock varying prices of HDMI senders or at least did when I was last looking.
Thats some they stock, varying prices but all well below ?100. It really does depend what you want out of them too, cheaper ones require 2 Cat6/5e and others just a single cable. Some wont do IR and others will.
Keene are definitely a good outfit to go with and I should hope they pay their taxes too!

Depending on how you're gonna route it you'll need to take into account the fact that the HDMI plugs are massive and will need an extra big hole for passing through joists and the like compared with a pair of cat6 cables.
Also the cable isnt gonna want to bend round tight corners, but then neither is a cat6.
The reason people also use extenders is because running the cable as a cat6 is so much easier. It depends how you're gonna do it I suppose.
Also, its gonna have to be a decent quality cable. Which will end up costing a decent amount anyhow.

G'day Koppo - I used to do something similar mate. Cannot for the life of me remember what kit I used - I definitely bought it in the UK. My TV was upstairs, the Foxtel box downstairs in the cupboard. Total run of internal cat 5 was about probably about 10 or so metres. Had not one issue. I'll see if I can track down the brand etc.
