    Tuning an HD TV

Given that I know little to nothing about the inner working of an HD TV, I've automatically tuned it to find all the relevant digital channels I got out of my old set. In the case of my newer set however (an LG LS3400) automatically tuning the set brings me up a series of channels clearly meant for wales as I have stuff like S4C or ITV Wales (I'm currently based in Warrington, Cheshire.) and the channels I am supposed to be getting such as BBC1 have been set to channel 79 or some other stupidly random number.

I'm assuming I need to manually tune the set as I end up with the same channels every time I try and auto tune, but I have no idea how. Any suggestions?

    Cheers.

You are probably pointing at the Moel-Y-Parc transmitter in Wales.

You should aim it at Winter Hill.

Does your TV ask you to set region once the autotune has finished?

It lets me set region for something or other, but there's no UK option, only Europe. Can only assume the tv has come from somewhere it shouldn't have. Bought it online from ebuyer though.

You sure you are not facing the transmitter just across the Wirral? In Wales.

This will then make your BBC and ITV channels etc. default to the Welsh versions.

When I hook up my old TV, I get normal channels in their normal positions. Can't explain it.
