I have an Xbox with the HD box which outputs component. My projector has DVI and component inputs, and my AV amp has HDMI and component. However the AV amp is only connected to the projector by HDMI, and it is not an amp that can convert from component HDMI. What's the best way to get HDMI from my Xbox component outputs?

I'd imagine there are gizmos and converters you can get, buy which time you might just be better of buying a newer Xbox with hdmi.
It could also be worth checking to see if your DVI socket will accept VGA with an adapter, then you could just get a VGA lead.
Ignore what I just said, you were talking about an Xbox 1.

But nevertheless, without buying a Component to HDMI converter box (around ?20 on ebay), I would still think your suggestion is the best option.
Connect the Video part of the component cable direct to projector and connect the audio part (either stereo or optical 5.1) to the amp for the sound.
Means you have an extra cable going to your projector, but saves ?20 or so.

Hi all, thanks for answering. The amp does indeed have component in and out, but I don't want the extra cables. Are these 20 quid HDMI / Component converters generally of good quality? Something like http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LOOPS-YPbP...item5631b28b81 I note that ones with optical audio in are a little bit more expensive (this one is 35 quid).
