Thanks in advance if anyone can help me on this problem - and apolgies for its length of explanation.
One of my favourite driving games of all time is Battle Gear 2 on the PS2. A simple and brilliiant arcade racer (but with realistic handling). I love the fact you can just switch on and blast within minutes - no faffing with ride height or suspension set-up, etc.
The problem is this, the game only runs a GT Force steering wheel. A wheel made for GT3 back in the days.
It doesn't support the GT Force Pro (the wheel with the round gear knob next to the wheel / official GT4 wheel) - I know as I have both. The Battle Gear 2 Japanese game box also highlights the fact it only supports the GT Force too.
There must be a software / technical difference between the two.
For Instance if I try to play Dirt 3 on the PS3, the GT Force Pro works great, but the GT Force does not work at all.
My Japanese copy of Sega Rally Championship (1995) for the PS2 runs both GT Force and GT Force Pro - the game box states it supports both too.
Now my problem is this - my GT Force has recently broke down. No problem as my GT Force Pro works with all my PS3 games and 99% of my PS2 games too. But sadly this means my favourite game of all time (Battle Gear 2) can only be played with a button controller.
If I want to buy a new wheel to replace my GT Force and that can play Battle Gear 2 (GT Force Combatible) which do I buy?
Logitech only make 2 wheels from my research: 1) G27 2) Driving Force GT (looks exactly the same as the GT Force Pro)
I'm confused which if any wheel could help me out with this problem and allow me to play Battle Gear 2 once more.
I'm guessing none of the new Logitech wheels is likely to help me out.
Any help / advice / clarification would be very much appreciated.
