Can't get PS3 to display on Sanyo PLV-Z2 projector via home cinema amp

I think this is quite simple to explain. My PS3 displays fine whilst connected to the projector direct via HDMI. There is a DVI->HDMI dongle on the projector as it has no HDMI port.

However, when going through my Yamaha DSP-AX761 home cinema amp, I get a blank screen on the projector. I have heard rumours about HDCP handshaking issues. I'm clueless about this stuff, is there anything I can try to get this working? It's so annoying.

The projector is 720p so I could run things via component exclusively, instead of HDMI, but then I have a problem getting output from my HTPC (supports HDMI and DVI only).

    Please help, I'm lost!

It doesn't sound like there's much you can do. If there's a compatibility issue between your AVR and a major games console, it's something they need to fix!

Hi, thanks for answering, I was just going for the bump.

That is a real annoyance. I think I'll have to run component and HDMI to the projector for now, and to run the PS3 via component. Which is no problem for me apart from the extra cables and the need to switch the projector between HDMI and component as appropriate. (The Yamaha doesn't convert between component / HDMI).

Other people online seem to run the PS3 and Yamaha together okay, who knows if it's really a problem with the Yamaha? If I had another HDMI screen around, I'd plug that in to confirm it's not a weird interaction between the Yamaha and the projector, but I don't.

      Bah humbug etc.
