Looking for Advice Xbox 360 S disk error

Recently purchased a copy of Ace Combat Air Assault and it won't work on my Xbox 360 Slim, I tried it on a friends machine that has a Jasper and it worked fine. All other games on my Xbox work fine even newly purchased games such Assassin Creed 3.

Is my DVD drive starting to fail?

Are Slim DVD drive less reliable or less fault tolerant?

Should I be looking at getting the machine repaired?

If anyone can share their experiences I would be grateful.

I occasionally get a disc read error on a couple of my discs I've not looked after too well or if I've got even a small smudge on them.

Many newer games have much more data on them and the console will reject them if there is even the smallest of scratches.

Make sure it is clean and smudge free and maybe try installing he game first.

Hi, I can't install it because every time I press X for Game Details to install it gives the error!

Console is lying down horizontally, the disc is brand new with no visible scratches but have cleaned it anyway.

Sounds like the drive may be on the way out, the only way to really know is to try and install some other games to HDD and see if you get issues. If not then maybe the disc just doesn't like your drive, that can happen, not very likely though.

I always install games to HDD these days for that very reason, saves wear and tear on the drive, not to mention making it quieter to boot.
