Rgb modded n64 with panasonic gt50 plasma

Can anyone help with this.

I have an rgb modded n64 I have connected but the image is too far to the left with a black bar on the right.

I am thinking it could be the cable but does anyone know what could cause this problem.

Pretty standard TBH. The TV service menu could help out.

You can adjust the image in the service menu that way, but then all your other video will be squashed/cropped/wrong in some way.

I've actually never used RGB SCART input to a Panasonic PDP. Is there no horizontal alignment option in the menu somewhere?

I don't want to adjust the service menu because I also use a pal snes using an rgb scart in the same port and that is fine.

Can't see any options to move it.

I've tried it on another tv and it is fine so not sure what it could be.

Yeah, pretty standard sadly. My RGB US N64 was always about 5mm off to the left.

ok guess I need to find another solution. this is much more than 5mm. I would say 10-15cm. yes cm.

You'd be better off getting a component scart converter (as long as it does sound too) imho

That adapter simply converts the European SCART pinout to a Japanese pinout. If you use it in the wrong way (plugging it in an European television), you will damage your equipment. You don't need such adapter because you can see the image from the N64; the N64 is American, but it's already using a European cable.

The one I have doesn't do sound, although the pic is great. It requires AC power by the way. I need to mod it for sound with an audio jack. If anyone wants to help in that dept, please PM me! I currently have to run it via a scart switcher which has the audio output split, so it's all a bit complex.

The one I have looks like this exactly, but the brand is QED instead.

Try isolating pin 8 (electrical tape or something a bit thinner. This will however result in a composite image if there is no way to instruct the TV to force RGB. I have a GT50, but it doesn't have SCART unfortunately, so I don't know whether this is possible on yours.

I also believe that the behaviour can be different depending on how much voltage is applied to pin 8, so there may be a way to have your cake and eat it.

The gt50 uses this adaptor to connect a scart adaptor that came with the tv

That complicates things. That pin may already be disconnected. No harm in trying though.

i have looked at the numbering on the pins and it goes to 20. i put some tape over number 8 and it has the same effect - still to the left.
