Winning Eleven 6 and progressive scan problem?

According to this post WE6FE is prog scan compatible.

I wonder what I'm doing wrong, can anyone help?

Running US Cube, with Freeloader 1.06, with VGA modded lead on a CRT monitor. Here's what I'm doing:

- insert freeloader (screen is blank)
- remove freeloader after 10 seconds and insert WE6 whilst holding B
- wait 5 seconds and press A, screen flickers and turns on
- some Japanese writing appears, then the 'loading' screen appears for a few seconds
- then I get this screen, and can't get out of it:



All I can comprehend is the OFF

Um ... wiping the disc and trying again seemed to solve the problem.
