using my wiiu mii on 3DS

Confusing title but all i want to do is use my personal mii from my wiiu on my 3ds

It doesn't seem possible which is weird.

I can transfer any mii's across from the wiiu to the 3DS but it wont let me set one as my personal mii.

I just created a new one for 3DS. I made it exactly the same as my Wii U one.
