Importing PS3 Slim NTSC-J step down question

Hi guys, I recently ordered a One Piece gold edition PS3 slim model from Japan but I've been driven crazy these pass few hours trying to figure out whether I need to use a step down or not as I seem to be getting mixed answers through the internet/Google, can any here who is in the know or has a PS3 slim model give me a definitive answer?
