    PC Monitor for console (PS3/360)

    Hi,

I'm moving to another town to study and won't be able to take my massive TV with me. Thus I decided, when budget allows, I'll get a smaller PC monitor so I can play some games over there. I guess any monitor would do? What monitors allow to be tilted sideways for TATE? What should I keep in mind?

Why can't you take your TV with you? Surely the cost of transporting it would be lesser than buying a monitor.
    Kept you waiting, huh?

It's not a viable option right now - nor is the monitor. Eventually I might buy a monitor as it's more compact. This would also be used for a computer. I also don't know how long I'll be in that apartment so I don't want to move the TV around. It's a 42" plasma and is supposedly quite fragile. Can't be laid on its back or anything.

edit: On the other hand, my TV is awesome so I just might consider moving it when I'm settled in better.

Dell U2311HM or similar might be up your street. Rotate mech on stand and very low input lag.

Hmm... OK I'll look into it. There aren't any Dell screens in Finland though. I'll see what's similar, and cheap.

Not saying you HAVE to get a Dell.

Can you get the Asus Pro Art displays in Finland? The PA246Q is lovely.

A Dell U2312HM is ?154 on Amazon UK. Don't know about the delivery to Finland but it's a good price for an LED-lit Ultrasharp with a rotating stand and minimal input lag.

When you compare Ultrasharp displays to televisions in the same price bracket it's hilarious how much better quality they are.

Of course, there's no TV tuner but hey.

Ha, yeah. I ran RE5 at 720p with 1:1 pixel mapping on my U2410 years back and it was like playing an animated postcard.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that.

That the native res of a PS3 game was just tiny on a PC monitor. Really tiny. It was just funny to think of that little image being stretched across a 50" screen when it was no more than the size of a postcard on the monitor.

Ah right I see. Yeah it's even more strange when you set your desktop to 640x480 and use the display in 1:1 mode.

                        My U2410 still going strong.

I really miss mine. Been plotting to buy another for a while, even if the analogue inputs are crap.
