    heatsink/fan advice?

I've got an occasional crash problem on my box, and I think it might be heat related, so I'm thinking of replacing the heatsink/fan on it.

Its only an Athlon 900, though; am I right that the heatsinks for more modern Athlons will still be ok, or do I need to find a 'vintage' one?

And before anyone asks, a new chip would mean a new motherboard new memory, and really a fresh install of Windows (and a fresh discussion with Microsoft to get my XP re-licensed on the new board), and I can't be bothered with all that.

Thanks Wod - its Socket A, I just didn't know if they had changed the heatsink clips at all. I'll try to go for something a bit more beefy, but doesn't involve strapping an entire brick to the thing (as I'm more paranoid about hanging a massive weight off the tiny clip than I am overheating).

On an old 900 like that, just get a nice quiet socket A h/s. You won't need a vacuum-esque device to shift heat.

and use some good quality heatsink compound like arctic silver 3 or whatever its at now, as that used with a good heatsink should reduce the temp and heat
