Anyone tried a HDMI to DVI cable on Xbox One

As above, as my Xbox One don't work via my HDMI switcher and I thought this might work on my Dell U2711 monitor.
Only need video as I will be getting the sound via optical...
Would this work using a HDMI to DVI cable?

Should work fine I guess, I used a HDMI to DVI lead on a PS3 and Wii U for a couple of months until upgraded my monitor, previous monitor was a Samsung one, sure the cheap versions of the leads (shortish ones) are only a couple of quid on Amazon if you just want to test one. Picture was perfect by the way.

      Only issue may be HDCP.

Just remind me again what HDCP is please and what problems might occur?

Handshaking stuff I think. Not 100% DVI is compatible. Would mainly affect stuff like Blu Ray, at least on PS3 previously.

I've used HDMI to DVI from 360 and PS3, in fact, I watched a Blu ray through it just a week ago with no issues. Like it's been said, if your monitor is really old (or perhaps a really cheap noname brand) it is possible that the DVI doesn't support HDCP, but that's very unlikely.

Ok I was looking at this option as my Xboxone was having issues with my HDMI Matrix (4 - 2).
I over came the problem by going into display settings and changing the tv connection type from auto detect to HDMI and then selected the resolution I wanted, in my case 1080p. Problem solved I have picture and audio with no hdcp problems at all.

                  (btw DVI rarely carries audio)

this is the matrix I have http://www.amazon.co.uk/Neet%C2%AE-H...et+hdmi+matrix
