I used this app to tweak the picture on a friends five year old Sharp LCD TV last night. The process made a big difference. Skin tones are far more natural, details in dark areas visible and the overall improvement in colour makes a far clearer, more detailed picture.
The app is inexpensive but does require a cable to connect to the TV or it will work via Airplay with an Apple TV.
There are six steps for picture adjustment with audio and visual instructions. Very easy to run through taking less than 30 minutes.
It also has an audio setup wizard for 5.1 surround which I haven't tried.
I appreciate this is not as good as a proper ISF calibrator doing their thing but it's a good place to start.
I didn't take any before and after photos this time though. But I have a Panasonic LCD TV of similar vintage with an IPS panel which I'm waiting on a part for. I'll document it when I do that TV.
Shame you can't get a scart cable for an iPad this would be great for tweaking old CRTs.
