Can someone please recommend me a Mac MP3 encoder?

    Preferably a freeware/shareware one.

    Thanks

How about using iTunes? Surely you can't have missed that.

I have also used N2MP3 before.

Ah, I have a collection of .wav, .rm, .ra and .aiff files which I am trying to get into iTunes. Can the program encode from a file, then?

The .aiff should be no problem, I don't know how to convert .wav, .ra, .ram files to mp3/4...

I use Audio Hijack Pro to make mp3 from wma and rm files. Basically it intercepts the output from Windows Media Player and Real Player and saves it as an mp3. Unfortunately you have to play the track, so it'll take a long time if you have a lot of files to convert.

If you're running OSX couldn't you use some of the readily available Linux tools somehow?

Never used Linux before, so I wouldn't know how to...
