What is that song called on Level 5, and who is it by? It is truly magical, and I dont even like dance music.

The track is called "Fear", and it's produced by Adam Freeland. There are 3 versions of the track to my knowledge (probably more).
The version in Rez. This version is adaptive and procedurally generated on-the-fly using samples, and is imo the best version. It is the only version of the track to have the crazy horn melody (around the time when you fight the giant spaceship on lvl5).
The version on Freeland's album "Now and Them". This track is called "Mind Killer". This version keeps the drum-track of the original, and the bassline, but adds a vocal track (rapped), and also uses some guitars.
The version on the Rez OST. This is the weakest version imo. Has a fairly mechanised industrial feel to it. It actually sounds a lot like something off NIN's "Pretty Hate Machine" album to me.
There are probably further remixes of the track, but I haven't heard them. -

The version in Rez is designed to work with the player's lock-ons and shots. You could rip an mp3 straight out the back of the PS2 I guess, but no 2 versions really sound exactly alike as it will depend on the manner in which you play the level on that particular run. I think Cmdr. Marklar may have an mp3 rip of the Rez in-game version.Comment

I personally prefer the sound track version of Fear.
There are a number of unofficial remixes of it floating about too.

Yep. Let me sort something out; I left it at work, not back there until Tuesday, so I'll probably put it somewhere Tuesday night? The .mp3 I have is fairly procedural, like the game one, although it isn't perfect. It is ripped from the game and, I believe, pieced together manually to give it some structure.I think Cmdr. Marklar may have an mp3 rip of the Rez in-game version.
I'll post again when I've sorted it out 8) I have more too, I stuck 'em up on Edge once and "they" killed the site within a few minutes
