Problems with PAL PS1 games on a JAP modded PS2

Firstly I have searched the forum but couldn't find the answer I'm looking for...

Basicly when I boot up PAL PS1 games on my JAP modded PS2 they display in black and white, could there be any answer for this?

It seems very strange as when the games boot the playstation logo does actually display in colour, however the screen then flickers and the game is displayed in black and white

    Any help is appreciated.

    Rgds,

Can't say I've ever come across this issue before - NTSC games in B/W yes, PAL games? No.

The only thing I can think of is it being a chip issue, even then it would seem a bit odd. What chip are you using?

Do PS2 PAL games play in colour? If so then I'd look at the chip.

    Regards
    Marty

You are using an RGB scart cable, right?

Its a massiah 2 chip, and yeah PAL PS2 games are fine, just seems to be PAL PS1 games that are the issue.

And i'm using the standard scart that comes with the PS2 atm, i've tried it on AV but its still the same result.

The standard cable is just composite, You'll need a RGB cable to display your games in colour.

Hi Asylum. This is scart. Its what you need for the best pic out of your ps2/ any console.

Check the back of your tv, it should have the inputs for one or two scart leads. Remember, if there are two, make sure that you use the one numbered as "one" as most tvs with two scart inputs normally only accept RGB through one of them.

                Much appreciated people

I'll pick one up and see if that does the job
