Mario Party Which Version Is Best?

Hello all,
I've just recieved MKD & the bonus disk. The bonus disk is good. The best game for me was Mario Party 5. I've never owned any Mario Party game but it's a game that me and the good lady can enjoy together. Nice simple fun.
Which is the best version for GC?
I've tried searching on the forum but couldn't find anything.

From what I have heard on internet message boards, Mario Party fans prefer 5 to 4, but according to review scores 4 gets the nod over 5. So that won't help you much!

ha ha. That's what i'd heard. But are the reviews based on "Oh well it's another MP game" and marking it down or did they actually compare them side by side. I'll have a rumage around. Thanks for the reply.

I have mario party 1, 2,3 and 4

but, dunno whether to get 5. it all seems to be pretty much the same ole same ole.

But i sort of want it to 'complete the set'

And then you'll need Mario Party 6 next christmas! You must break the chain before it tightens its grip on you!

Mario party 2 is my favourite...but thats on the n64 so that doesn't help you much.

I do still have a NTSC N64 though. Have you played all the other versions?

Mario Party-Fun game but man, some of those mini games weren't made with the N64 controller in mind. How knackered does the analogue get?

Mario Party 2-Possibly the peak of the series so far depending on what MP5 ends up like. Solid and fun variety of maps and minigames throughout.

Mario Party 3-Another good installment but personally was a little less Mario-ish and fun than MP2 was.

Mario Party 4-A step up from Mario Party 3 again but not quite upto 2. Felt a bit skinny on the mini-game front.

Mario Party 5-Not played yet so it could be good or bad. Sounds to be slightly better than MP4 again but not as comprehensive as MP2 was.

So, if Mario Party 5 truly is better than 4 I'd say the order of goodness is probably:

1-Mario Party 2
2-Mario Party 5
3-Mario Party 4
4-Mario Party 3
5-Mario Party

Thanks for the breakdown.
I could get out my N64, but i don't know how easy it would be to get a copy of MP 2. Looks like i'll be going for a cheap copy of MP 5.

I've played Mario Party 1 a lot and own 3 and 5 (and I think I played 2 as well, which a friend rented from the video store).
What I found fun about MP 1, I think it was, is that the coins you collected in the games went to the bank and you could buy all sorts of goodes (and a key to a new level).
My memory may lack me a bit, but don't other Mario Party games have this? I really liked that option

Also, Shy Guy says from MP 1 was a classic (especially with 3 friends lol). Too bad I can't play that one anymore.

Was that the one where he raised flags in a simon-says type game? This thread has reminded me how great Mario Party is.


Multiplayer game night this Saturday with the lads methings.

Maybe I'll bring my N64 US Mario Party to the meet... if people want to play it heh. Certainly I like it better than either Cube version...
