    PS2 online is b0rked

I bought a network adapter yesterday, and set it up properly (as far as i can tell) i have it going straigh to a NIC in my PC but when i go to set it up on the PS2 disc it cant find the network.

I only have one NIC in my PC and i cant use it to connect to my XBOX fine, i can also use XBOX connect fine too. so i think the problem could be with the PS2 and not the PC but obviously i could be wrong. on the test network screen (on the ps2) i get this error "a connection to the network could not be established please try later" also when its looking for the network, the PC doesnt see anything.

Im using windows XP/Pipex ADSL with the USB modem and not a router.

    any help is apreciated.

From the description, I understood you're using Internet Connection Sharing , although setting up a PS2 with ICS can be hard.

Try setting these values in the TCP/IP properties of your NIC:

    IP: 192.168.0.1
    Mask: 255.255.255.0 (Thanks Valken. )

Leave the gateway and the DNS fields blank, or if asked, let Windows mark them.

If you still have problems configuring the Network Access Disk (NAD), create a new connection with manual settings (IP, DNS).

In this case, you should use for the IP: 192.168.0.2 and for the gateway: 192.168.0.1 (your NIC).

    Hope it helps.

The last number of that subnet mask needs to be zero.

      255.255.255.0

Gooner, I had the same thing matey, apparently they printed a LOAD of authorisation codes with the same nubers, so only one worked, I had to phone them up, and wait a week for a new set of numbers to arrive, after that all was ok.

        Hope this helps.

        Spoony.

I would select No, and input the DNS values manually, but you can allways try Yes, and check if it works that way.

To find the values you need to go to Windows' Start Menu and choose Run. Input 'cmd' and in the ms-dos window just type 'ipconfig /all'. It should give you more than the information needed.

The cable you get with the adaptor isn't crossover.

The games will work, the problem is using ICS, which can be a headache when it has to do with a PS2. I had all these problems until I changed to a direct connection instead of ICS.

Anyway, this should do the trick:

Create a second connection using the NAD or any game that supports a connection creation. This connection proprieties (IP, DNS, etc.) should be equal to first one.

                        Don't test this one.

Go to Central Station and try again, if it does work, just press R1, go to Settings and manually select the connection you want CS to initiate. In this case it would be the second connection created previously.
