Pro Evolution 3 installation trouble... Can anyone help me?

I keep getting this message and I can't install the game after uninstalling the game once before...

    1628: Failed to complete installation.

Can anyone help me at all?
    Thanks in advance!

I'd suggest you delete all references to it in the Registry. Look for Konami or Pro Evo 3 (or Evo and see what keys give you the relevent name - then search those and delete them).
It sounds like a registry entry has been left after uninstalling.

Consumer Central is a resource, offered as a courtesy by Revenera, for software users to find solutions to common installation problems.

        Anything here help?

I've done all that but there is one thing I don't quite understand or can't quite access...

Note: Windows XP already contains Windows Installer version 2.0. Thus, you should not have to install the Windows Installer Service (MSI engine) on Windows XP.

Where is this? If I can locate this file I will try and reinstall this...

Thanks by the way guys for trying to help me out - I'm eager to play this game again!

Take the disc around to a friends house to try on a different PC, It might be a duff one.

It's definitely not a duff disc cause I bought it from work and it installed fine on the PC at work and also on my PC when I originally installed it the first time...

Are all the temp files cleared out from the first time you installed it? That error message is a symptom of old installation files still present in the temp folder.

                C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Temp\

                Check All Users as well.

Have you tried clicking on another file off the CD instead of setup, so the Win Installer boots from the system rather then CD?

Sometimes games have a seperate .Exe file that you can use.
