    gamecube - this disc can not be read problem

    Hi,

    I have a Jap/Us modded GC and all my games keep coming up with a this disc could not be read pls consult your manual or some jazz like that.....is it goosed? Anywhere i can have it repaired?

    PLs help.

    Are they for example all US games? If the switch has failed on one region or another, this would happen and so is easy to fix. Have you tried games from both regions?

      You'll get that message if you region mod is not working for example - does the Gamecube system menu change from English text to Katakana correctly?

      If it does it's not the region mod,it's the drive that needs to be replaced.

        yeah when i flick the switch the language changes fine.

        How do i go about getting it fixed guys?

          some game play for a couple of minutes and as soon as it trys to do anything it comes up with that message, i have tried looking for repair centers but i cant find any.

          Any help would be greatly appreciated.

            You need a replacement drive - cant think of how to get one cheaply (thats legal ) best I can suggest is to find a cheap 2nd hand PAL machine and take the drive from that.

                If say i went to Argos tonight and bought a pal gc, is it wasy to switch drives?

                  Yeah, that'll work... switching the drives is a piece of piss... opening the GC without a specialised screwdriver is not.

                  I think placed like Lik Sang still sell what they call "gamebits".
