In Cave shmups on 360, can you reassign the controls?

As title really want to play Saidaioujou on 360 but with a PS2 stick, and I'm concerned the converter will assign the buttons awkwardly and I'll be stuck.

Can you do this in Saidaioujou, and what about other Cave 360 games?

You can with every X360 shooter I know of.

Yeah I don't know of any where you can't re-map the buttons.

Some might need you to be able to understand Japanese though to navigate through them.

Interesting that you are using a PS2 stick though, let us know how it fares with lag etc.

        Thanks guys that's most helpful!

Last shmup I played on a non touchscreen device was Mushi Futari back on its release, so I couldn't remember. Going to dig my old banned 360 out and give Saidaioujou a bash with this stick.

Hopefully no lag etc - will report back

Thought I would report back on this as per Soundwave's request. I am currently using my PS2 stick to play Akai Katana through a converter, and it seems to work flawlessly. I certainly can't detect any lag. I am using an SNK replica stick (the Ougi version with Mai's fan on it), maybe a slightly odd choice for CAVE titles but I feel it's very comfortable.

I have assigned the controls to A - Ninja/Super Saiyan mode (I don't know what it's called lol), B - Shot, C - Bomb, D - Autoshot. Thanks again for confirming you could do this guys.

One note to anyone who thinks they might do this - make sure you buy one of the more recent PS2 -> 360 converters. There seems to be some kind of lockout chip in 360 controllers to prevent counterfeits/third party models, and the early Chinese converters got around this by requiring you to keep a wired 360 pad plugged into the converter at the same time as the PS2 controller (for authentication purposes).

The newer models however seem to have this lockout chip fitted inside them, as they don't require any cumbersome plugging in of 360 pads and 'just work'. They even have a little light to show which player you are and an Xbox Guide button.
