Xbox Samsung Replacement Drive consoles Any Known Probs?

    Hi,
still dicking about on whether or not to get a modded Xbox.I see that a few modders offer to install moddified pc Samsung drives into Xboxs.Does anyone know of any problems that arise in reliabilty if you do this?Same with upgraded harddrives,do these cause problems with the Xbox as well?
    Any info greatly appreciated

I've had a modded xbox for about a year with a upgraded harddrive, a WD 120GB and i haven't experienced any problems at all. But since it is hardware we are talking about ofcourse you could get a faulty harddrive or dvd, just as you could get a faulty xbox. But there isn't really any need to worry since it won't damage your xbox.

On the other hand the replacement of the dvdrom seems a bit unnecessary since i haven't really used the dvd other than to back-up xbox games on the harddrive and for this purpose the original xboxdvd is quite sufficient.

Hope you got something out of this (besides terrible spelling and grammar )

      Hi Broder,
many thx for taking the time to reply, mucho appreciated. Its just that I've heard 1or2 comments about pc modded Samsung drives(and not original Samsung Xbox drives)being a bit unreliable when installed in an Xbox and being the kind of person I'am this kind of put me off somewhat.
Really happy to hear that your hardrive as worked a treat and for so long too, that does give me a bit more confidence to go ahead and get one.Can I ask where you got yours upgraded from?
Thanks once again, btw your spelling and grammer is cool, you should see mine on a bad day.

Unless you want to run backups I dont really see the point in replacing the drive, as quite a few xbox drives read CD-RW disks if you need to install an app from disk.

The simplest way to install stuff is to connect the xbox to a PC and transfer across.

If you want your Xbox modded and you're near London, see Will at www.londonconsole.com. I can't recommend him enough.
