Please Help With a PC DVD Writer Problem

    Hi everyone,

Talk about stressed! I have a Panasonic DVD recorder under the TV. I thought it would be a good idea to tape stuff from Sky + onto a DVD RAM and then make a good DVD with menus and chapters etc.

So I bought an LG 4040B I think it is. It got 5/5 in a computer magazine so I thought it should be good. However I ordered the OEM version instead of the retail version. Why I don't know. Anyway, I have plugged it all in and the drive can recognize CD's, DVD's, DVD-R's. But does it see the DVD RAM? Does it bugger!!!

My Firmware is version 301. Does anyone have any idea how I can get it to see the DVD RAM contents and also a good program for making DVD's with menu's chapters etc.

Many thanks in advance for any replies.
    Pete

    PS - I'm using Windows 98SE

Hi, you need drivers for DVD-Ram functionality and for some insane reason LG dont supply the drivers with OEM drives or supply them for download on their website which is ridiculous and VERY poor customer support.

You'll need the drivers here: http://jhcare.com/drivers/ for whichever OS you have. You should then beable to see DVD-Ram discs and format/write/re-write to them.
