PC microphone

Can anyone recommend me a decent microphone for pc use? I'm thinking of two options:
Headphones with mic attached that could work on an xbox one also.
A mic that sits on desk so I can use separate headphones/speakers.

It'll be used for skype while playing games or just in-game chat. What are you guys using?

I have a Blue Snowball, the slightly better one with the shiny stand and switchable modes.

Aside from that the Blue Yeti and Audio Technica AT2020 are good bets.

I prefer a desk mic myself, use my Snowball with my AKG K701 - so I have good sound and mic input, which most headsets don't provide.

The reason I'm more interested in mic on desk and speakers is simply comfort. After a couple of hours things attached to my head start to greatly annoy me. I'll have a look at your suggestions. Cheers bud.

I should have mentioned the regular Blue Snowball will be most cost effective with good results.

Think I'll go ahead and order the Blue Snowball. I'm assuming the omnidirectional version is needless for my purposes. Here's what I'm looking at now. Seems like a decent price unless you know of anywhere cheaper?

Yeah, you don't need omnidirectional.
