Need help updating PC BIOS please

Do pretty sort of know what I'm doing, famous last words I know.

This is the motherboard, I need to do a BIOS update so Ivy Bridge CPU will work

Click on the Tech Support tab and this is the update I want to install...

    H67MP-S Support Ivy Bridge CPU BC5F1P01 5.26MB 3/22/2012
There is a PDF manual in that download.

All fine, booted to DOS etc, run the dosflash.bat and I get an error message about the AFUDOS.EXE being a 16-bit program incompatible with my 64-bit version of Windows.

Do I need to do all that's detailed on this screen instead?

Or will it work running via DOSBOX or something?

Bit stuck now. Any help appreciated.

Can you not use the Fox Live Update utility?

Seems as if it will download the latest BIOS and install it.

Updating via DOS is an ancient method!

When you say booting to DOS is this on original DOS such as MSDos or DRDos or windows command line?
The BIOS updates require a proper old school DOS. I have a USB bootable stick for this purpose.

Did you notice that the BIOS comes with the HP tool to create a USB bootable stick

Don't think I have ever updated a BIOS before. Used the Live Update program and it seemed to install fine. But on reboot I now just have the CPU AND GPU fans spin up for a couple of seconds then stop and repeat.
Obviously no picture in that time and pretty stuck. Tried resetting the CMOS and no different and even removed the battery for 30 seconds then replaced it but still all the same. Checked and double checked everything is seated and connected properly

Thanks for the reply though Speedy.

I did now. Was using Windows DOS from boot yes. See problems I have now above.

Thanks for your reply though. Wondering if going the bootable USB route will solve/fix the issue.

You normally update BIOS, then go into BIOS and load optimised defaults.

Sounds kinda like power cycling though, try flipping the switch on the PSU off, holding the power button down for 10 seconds, flipping it back on and then powering back on.

Are you 100% sure you have flashed the correct BIOS as it sounds as if you have bricked it.

It was the right ROM file yes. Still have a copy of it on USB stick. Computer just fires up fans for two seconds then they stop and repeat the process until power is turned off.
So pleased was lot main home PC. Was son's one I was updating after doing mine fine ten days ago.

Anything else I can try bar the reset CMOS and removing battery etc before getting another motherboard?

Does it not have dual BIOS or anything?

Gigabyte have had that feature for many years - nice for peace of mind.

A new BIOS chip would fix it, should it be socketed. Have you tried using a single RAM stick?

Yes tried booting with different single memory sticks, no graphics card etc.
Only a single BIOS on this Foxconn one.
