Wii softmod - any problems?

I already have a softmodded PAL Wii, but it' at my parents' and I'd like to play some of the Japanese games I've recently bought.
So I thought to softmod the US Wii I have with me, but it has eShop purchases linked to it: are there any potential issues in softmodding a Wii with eShop purchases? Since it has always been kept up to date, I'll have to use LetterBomb.

I didn't experience any issues with my US Wii when I soft-modded it, but all my VC-games are now transferred to my US Wii U.

I guess you transferred them after the softmod, right? I don't really want to transfer things to the Wii U right now.

Yes, I softmodded and installed homebrew channel before transferring. Wasn't too hard and I'm not really tech-savvy either. Go for it!

Yeah, I remember doing it on the PAL Wii and it was very easy. Wasn't really sure about eShop games though, that's why I asked for help. Thanks.
