3ds xl downloaded games on system

I am potentially interested in buying a 3ds xl that has about 6 games on the system. Does the guy need to keep his nintendo id on the machine for these to work, or can i create a new id and play these

*think* he needs to leave his profile on there, can be with a 50 character password you don't know if he wants, you can then create a new profile and play the games fine. Same with Wii U.

Let someone else clarify before parting with your coin though.

NNID needs to stay, otherwise it's akin to a system format.
Club Nintendo ID can be changed at will.
