N64 Conversion Q

This was emailed into me, and I am unsure as to the answer - if anyone can provide one Id be grateful -

I was wondering if it was possible to get the components i need to convert my Nintendo 64 which is a Uk Pal system in to a system that would work with USA/Japan and UK, etc. games.

In theory I guess it's possible but not without getting the parts from an NTSC N64 thus defeating the purpose.

He's looking for something that can play ntsc AND pal games by the looks of it. It's called a passport plus
But basically, no. But if he looks on www.ebay.com, he might find someone who will ship him a base unit to play ntsc games on, so he can use his current power supply etc.

You can do this,

You just need the parts from an NTSC machine and a PAL machine. Guess that defeats the purpose (having to buy both) and it looks like a very complicated mod...

Better to use two separate machines as you end up butchering up one

If PAL games on such a machine ran fullscreen I'd be willing to give that a shot but he doesn't really say.

It seems wrong to butcher 2 perfectly good machines which could just be used as they are. Yes, I know it's more convenient to just have one, but still...
