Looking at getting something for snowboarding and bike rides. Fancy the new gopro 4 for its 120fps capture but is there anything else I should consider? Needs to be mountable to helmet or chest and handlebars I guess. Want to be easily able to transfer 1 camera between snowboarders too. Ta.

There's a Sony one that I saw on sale the other day that was half the price of the GoPro, the HDRAS20 is the standalone model. There are version with wrist view/remotes as well that look pretty swish, like the HDRAZ1VW. They only do 1080p and not 4k though.
And I have no clue which is better, I just like the wrist remote idea

The advantage of the GoPro is the speed at which is deals with changing lighting conditions, so if you duck into some trees, it will adjust really quickly.
Do you need the vids to be at 1080p? Most of the "at speed" footage I've seen from GoPros look very similar at 720 and 1080. If not, the 3+ does 720p at 120fps. Admittedly, this is probably due to youtube trashing the footage when you upload it - I guess if you watch the raw 1080 stuff on your TV it will look better.

I still like this one http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/...7dae515200en02 marketed as a POV cam. Obviously my mind turns to filth right away

That's what I thought. Comes with a couple of mounts and is waterproof to 40 metres without using any extra casing. My kinda spare 64gig card is incompatible though grrrrr! so had to buy a new 32gig class 10.
Shame about the Sony devices. As usual they make something great and then stumble at the final hurdle but making the curved plastic in front of the lense a complete water magnet, shoddy build quality and flaky software. Was tempted by the Contour but that company is on shaky ground apparently so went with the same boring make as everyone else lol.Last edited by Brad; 05-01-2015, 14:52.
